Proposal Summary

This software upgrade proposal, if passed, would upgrade the KYVE Mainnet network to version 1.4 featuring CosmosSDK v0.47 and the implementation of the new funders concept, as discussed here. After ample testing on the Kaon testnet, this upgrade is now proposed for mainnet.

Proposal Details

To make use of latest features and security patches, KYVE upgrades to the next major CosmosSDK version, which notably contains improvements to the governance, especially adding back the title and a summary.

As a second larger change, the funders concept was reworked. Funders now maintain their own identity and can set the amount they want to fund per bundle. This enables more flexibility and also makes it easier for funders to subsidize data pools, but not fully pay for the data pools.

Upgrade Process

When the network reaches the defined upgrade height (

), block production on the KYVE network will be halted. Block production will not resume until significant voting power has switched to the new release. Validators can either manually replace the old binary with the new one or utilize Cosmovisor to automate this process.

Voting Options

Voting YES

• A YES vote on this proposal indicates that the KYVE network SHOULD be upgraded; and that the validators should start running the v1.4 release.

Voting NO

• A NO vote on this proposal indicates that the KYVE network SHOULD NOT be upgraded; and that the validators should continue running the v1.3.x release.

Voting NO WITH VETO

• A NO WITH VETO vote on this proposal indicates that the KYVE network SHOULD NOT be upgraded; and that the proposal depositors should be penalised.

Voting ABSTAIN

• An ABSTAIN vote on this proposal indicates that you decline to give a specific opinion on this proposal while maintaining active governance participation.
