On behalf of EmpowerChain and Stargaze’s ICS721 Super Team, we’re very excited to ask for the approval to integrate NFT bridge module in a future network upgrade. The work is being funded by Stargaze, so the proposal is only about signaling intent to deploy our solution to Gravity Bridge. An upgrade proposal will be submitted when the code is ready and audited for final deployment.

Overview

Our vision is to enable transfer of NFTs between Ethereum and Cosmos utilising Gravity Bridge. We successfully presented transferring NFTs from Sepolia to Stargaze testnet through Gravity Bridge fork in our project that won two 1st prizes in Game of NFTs hackathon and now we continue the development as a part of Stargaze’s ICS721 Super Team initiative. Our goal is to extend NFT bridging module to support two way transfers for both ERC721 and ICS721 tokens. We’re planning to have the implementation ready and testnet up and running in November 2023.

Security considerations

We have worked closely with Hawk Networks INC - the current chain maintainers to ensure that the design of the NFT bridge has minimal security impact on the fungible token bridge currently in operation. The NFT bridge module will be isolated from the fungible bridge, reviewed by the core maintainer team, and if the community approves, an audit contest may be held for the new module.
